Reverend Valerie Hunter, a cherished spiritual leader from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, passed away on March 15, 2025, at the age of 64. Her death has left a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.

Born on June 2, 1960, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Valerie was known for her unwavering faith, compassion, and devotion to service. She touched countless lives as a spiritual mentor and a trusted confidant to many. As a dedicated leader at St. John’s Baptist Church in Scotch Plains, Valerie organized outreach programs to help those in need, from food drives to community clean-up efforts. Her work served as a beacon of hope for many.

Close friend Dorri Wilson expressed her sorrow on social media, stating, "This loss hurt! Thank you, Valerie, for always being that kind of friend. Rest in God’s Hands, Reverend Valerie Hunter."

A Wake will be held on March 24, 2025, at St. John’s Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life. The service will honor Valerie’s legacy of love, kindness, and service.
