Westminster, CO – Albert Scantleberry, 67, passed away on October 1, 2024, following a prolonged struggle with multiple health complications, including prostate cancer and pneumonia.
His passing was confirmed by his son, Chris Valiant, who shared that Scantleberry’s health had steadily deteriorated over the past year.
Scantleberry was admitted to a medical facility where he spent his final months battling chronic depression and severe health challenges, which ultimately led to the contraction of pneumonia.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he was unable to recover from the illness.
Valiant reflected on the difficulty of sharing this news, expressing his grief in a post on social media, stating, "It has brought up unwelcome negative feelings of trauma since the passing of my mother in 1993."
Fondly remembered by his family, Scantleberry lived a somewhat private life in his later years but was known for his love of bicycling, technology, and music during his prime.
His son is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to help with cremation expenses, as Scantleberry’s ashes will be scattered at a location significant to his life.
Deja Bahn, a close family member, shared her gratitude on social media for the support offered during this difficult time: “We thank any support that is donated on behalf of the passing of my Dad Albert Scantleberry.”
Supporters are encouraged to contribute to the fundraiser in lieu of flowers or other memorial items.
