Middletown, New York – Alejandra Contreras, a 9th-grade student at Middletown High School, tragically passed away on October 21, 2024.
Alejandra allegedly died by suicide, as confirmed by Superintendent Amy Creeden, who expressed deep sorrow over the loss and emphasized the need for community support during this difficult time.
Alejandra was known for her warmth, positivity, and creative spirit, often inspiring those around her with her enthusiasm for life and her passion for art and problem-solving.
A memorial service was held at the school, where over 200 attendees honored Alejandra by releasing pink balloons in her memory.
The school has postponed the homecoming dance, and counseling services are being offered to students, staff, and community members.
In a letter to the community, Superintendent Creeden encouraged anyone in need of assistance to reach out to local resources, including the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
