Austin, Texas – Andrew Parrish, a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin, tragically died by suicide on October 10, 2024, leaving the university community and his family devastated.
The 19-year-old student was found unresponsive at The Castilian student dormitory earlier this week, and law enforcement officials have since confirmed his passing.
Parrish, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, was pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance and was expected to graduate in 2028.
He was a graduate of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and Western Reserve Academy, where he was known for his dedication to academics and his participation as a 4-year track athlete.
Andrew was also an active member of Sigma Chi at UT Austin.
According to reports, Andrew Parrish had been battling depression and other mental health challenges prior to his death.
His untimely passing has brought attention to the ongoing issue of mental health and suicide prevention on campus.
In response, UT Austin’s Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Program continues to promote awareness and offer support to students in need.
The Crossroads Church in Cincinnati has requested prayers for Andrew’s family during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
