Tangier, Morocco – Anthea Pender-Mynott, a cherished member of the Tangier community and a beloved friend of the Tangier American Legation, passed away on October 17, 2024.
Her death has left a deep void among her family, friends, and the cultural institution she dedicated so much of her life to alongside her husband, Lawrence Mynott.
Anthea, renowned for her creative talents, contributed to the Legation for decades through programs, posters, designs, and illustrations that celebrated its unique charm and history.
Her vibrant personality made Tangier a more captivating place.
The Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies expressed their grief, stating, “Tangier will be less interesting without her sparkling presence.”
Many shared their condolences on social media.
Gerald Loftus remarked, “Very sad news. Anthea was a lovely person, and, along with Lawrence, the Mynott’s home a special Tangier place.”
Mohamed Lamrani posted, “RIP Anthea. Thank you for all you did.”
Anthea’s absence will be felt throughout the community, but her legacy of creativity and warmth will continue to inspire those who knew her.
