Mary Lou Armstrong, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated nurse, has passed away at the age of 81 on September 22, 2024. Born on March 16, 1943, she was the beloved daughter of a nurturing family that inspired her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Mary Lou was married to David Armstrong on January 18, 1964, and together they raised two children, Steve and Kathy, instilling in them the values of love and support. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren and a great-grandmother to little Nora, who brought her immense joy.
With a distinguished nursing career primarily at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, Mary Lou was affectionately known as “Mamma Lou,” providing comfort to countless patients and families.
Her passing has elicited heartfelt tributes from friends and family. Kristin Arb Standish expressed, “So sorry Kathy. It is so hard. Sending you love and peace,” while Peggy Norman Stevens added, “She was a great lady!”
Mary Lou Armstrong’s legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on September 29 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Rec Center at Laclede Groves in St. Louis, MO.
