Swanton, Ohio – Carly Renee Kudzia, a vibrant 14-year-old girl from Swanton, passed away at her home on the morning of Friday, October 11, 2024, after bravely battling progeria, a rare genetic disorder.
Her passing has deeply impacted her family, friends, and the community, leaving them heartbroken but cherishing the legacy of her short yet remarkable life.
Carly was known for her infectious smile and indomitable spirit, always embodying her motto, "tiny but awesome," despite the immense challenges she faced due to progeria.
This rare condition accelerates the aging process in children, often leading to early-onset health issues such as heart disease and strokes, but Carly’s determination and love for life never faltered.
In a heartfelt post, her cousin, Mike Trzcinski, shared, "She was a very vibrant young girl who never let the disease get her down. She accomplished more in her short life than I have in my long life."
The family has requested donations in Carly’s name to the Progeria Research Foundation, a cause close to their hearts.
Carly is survived by her parents, Ryan Kudzia and Heather Unsinger, her two brothers, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
Her passing leaves a void in the lives of many, but her legacy of strength, joy, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew her.
