St. George, South Carolina – Chris L. Kitt, 32, tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident on U.S. Highway 15, near Smoke Hill Road, on October 4, 2024.
The devastating incident involved three vehicles, including a Chevrolet sedan driven by Kitt, a Dodge sedan, and a dump truck.
Authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that the collision occurred around 4:29 p.m., with Kitt’s vehicle becoming involved in a chain-reaction crash that ultimately led to his car striking a tree.
Despite the quick response of emergency personnel, Kitt was declared dead at the scene due to the severe impact.
A passenger in Kitt’s vehicle survived the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Neither the driver of the dump truck nor the Dodge sedan reported injuries.
The Dorchester County coroner, Paul Brouthers, identified Chris L. Kitt as the deceased.
The Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the accident, urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
