St. John’s, Newfoundland – Christopher Ryan, a renowned Newfoundland singer and songwriter, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2024, at the age of 38.
His death has left the local music community and his loved ones grieving the loss of an artist whose music touched many lives.
Christopher began his musical career performing on the downtown stages of St. John’s and gained recognition with the release of his debut album in 2014. Over the last decade, he released several singles, with “Lucky Heart” standing out as a favorite, particularly cherished by his mother.
Known for his vibrant personality and diverse talents, Christopher’s impact extended beyond music.
Friends and fans have shared tributes to his kindness, noting that he was always ready with a smile, a warm hug, and words of encouragement.
Jodie Marie Thornbury expressed her shock on social media, writing, “Fly high with the angels my friend Chris Ryan. I can’t believe this terrible news today.”
She added, “You were such an outgoing genuinely kind person who went out of your way to make others feel good about themselves.”
Christopher is survived by his partner Amber Miller, his father Peter Ryan, his brothers Michael and Nicholas, stepchildren Jaxon and Madilyn, as well as many extended family members and a large circle of friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at The Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, followed by inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
