Connor Simmons, Purdue University Freshman and Central Catholic Graduate, Passes Away in Wiley Hall

Lafayette, Indiana – Connor Simmons, an 18-year-old freshman at Purdue University and recent graduate of Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School, was found deceased on Sunday afternoon at Wiley Hall, according to the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s office.

Authorities confirmed his time of death around 4:30 p.m., prompting an immediate response from both law enforcement and medical personnel.

Upon arrival, Purdue University Police Department officers assessed the scene, later notifying the coroner’s office to conduct a thorough investigation.

An autopsy revealed no visible signs of trauma, and officials currently do not suspect foul play in Simmons’ death, though the final cause remains undetermined pending toxicology results, which may take several weeks.

A beloved member of his school and local community, Simmons was known for his faith, warmth, and positivity.

Reflecting on his impact, Lafayette Central Catholic Jr.-Sr. High School expressed condolences, stating, "Connor was a beloved friend, classmate, and teammate who brought joy to everyone around him.”

Many from the community have also shared tributes on social media, expressing their sorrow and prayers.

Taylor Thompson, who knew Connor briefly, remembered him as someone who "always brought a smile and a positive attitude to every game.”

Mark J. Buche added, "We love Connor, may he rest in the loving arms of Jesus.”

Purdue University is expected to offer support resources for students and staff as they grieve the sudden loss of a young life.
