Slidell, Louisiana – Cynthia Knecht, a 64-year-old resident of Slidell, was tragically killed on October 15, 2024, in a suspected murder-suicide incident that has left her family and the local community in shock.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident, which took place near the Walgreens at the intersection of Military Road and Gause Boulevard.
The victim, identified as Cynthia Knecht, was reportedly shot and later died while being transported to the hospital.
Her brother, Barry Lemoine, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, revealing that the tragedy occurred on what would have been their parents’ 69th wedding anniversary.
"Her life was taken from her in a brutal and tragic way," he wrote.
The suspected shooter, identified as Dennis F. Knecht, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Details of the incident suggest it was domestic in nature, and authorities are treating it as a murder-suicide.
Condolences poured in on social media, with friends and family expressing their grief and shock.
