Rockledge, Florida – Damien Ffrench, a 19-year-old, was arrested on October 4, 2024, following an alarming incident at Rockledge High School, which led to a temporary lockdown of the school.
At around 12:15 p.m., a report was made to the Rockledge Police Department regarding a person on campus with a firearm.
Authorities promptly issued a "shelter in place" order before the school was locked down for a full investigation.
Along with Ffrench, two other individuals, 15-year-old Kristian McKesson and 17-year-old Keshaun J. Artis, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, and the school was secured quickly by local police and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation revealed that a firearm had been located, but details about specific charges have not yet been disclosed.
Chief Christopher Crawford of the Rockledge Police Department expressed his gratitude to the officers involved, stating, "While I am sorry this incident may have caused stress to our students and their families, it was necessary to ensure their safety."
Parents and community members took to social media to express their relief and gratitude.
Genevieve Soules, a parent, wrote, "Great job RPD! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping our kids safe."
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
