Durham, North Carolina – Davicia Annie Jean Lee, a 30-year-old woman, was fatally shot in an incident that unfolded outside a Cook Out restaurant in Durham, North Carolina, late on Saturday evening, October 28, 2024.
Authorities reported that the tragic event took place shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the 1500 block of S. Miami Boulevard/U.S. 70, near Angier Avenue, just east of Durham.
Responding to the reported shooting, deputies arrived at the scene and discovered Ms. Lee’s body outside the establishment, confirming her death shortly after their arrival.
The Durham County Sheriff’s Office, in a statement, noted that the Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensics Unit are actively examining the circumstances surrounding her death.
This shooting incident led to an active shooter warning issued at North Carolina Central University, located approximately five miles away, though officials later clarified that the Cook Out shooting appeared to be an isolated incident.
As of Sunday, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
