Donald Butler Jr., 23-Year-Old Wheatley Heights Man, Dies in Tragic Car Accident on New Jersey Turnpike

Wheatley Heights, New York – Donald Butler Jr., a 23-year-old man from Wheatley Heights, tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on the evening of October 15, 2024.

Butler was returning home from Virginia State University’s Homecoming when the accident occurred in Westampton Township.

According to reports from the New Jersey State Police, the accident happened at approximately 9:56 p.m. near milepost 43.9 on the northbound side of the turnpike, just south of Exit 5.

Butler, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz E400, collided with the rear of a Freightliner tractor-trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 p.m.

No other injuries were reported, and the accident is currently under investigation.

Butler, also known as “Juno” by those close to him, was remembered by friends and family for his positive energy and the joy he brought to everyone around him.

The Dear Summer BBQ community, of which he was a beloved member, expressed their deep sorrow on social media, saying, "That Dear Summer Stage won’t be the same without you, Fly Guy."

Condolences poured in from those who knew him, with one individual commenting, “Sleep well, Juno,” capturing the grief felt by all who were touched by his presence.

The loss of Donald Butler Jr. has left a profound void in the hearts of many.
