Chicago, Illinois – Donald Ferguson, a 17-year-old young man, tragically lost his life in a car accident on Chicago’s South Side on October 28, 2024.
The collision occurred near a gas station on the 7100 block of South Ashland Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood.
According to local authorities, a white SUV allegedly ran a red light, crashing into a grey SUV, which led to the devastating impact.
The accident took place shortly after 10 p.m., and Ferguson, who was a passenger in the white SUV, was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Another passenger in the same vehicle was also hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver of the grey SUV suffered a concussion and was transported to Christ Hospital, where they remain in serious condition.
Witnesses recalled the traumatic scene.
One individual shared with CBS News Chicago, “I heard the impact because I turned my head for a second, and when I looked back, all I saw was the grey car pushing the white car almost into the gas pump, and the white car almost flipped over.”
This tragic accident has left family, friends, and the community in mourning as they remember the young life lost too soon.
