Dr. Doris Tummillo, Beloved Cardiologist and Advocate for Animals, Passes Away in Aiken, South Carolina

Aiken, South Carolina – Dr. Doris Tummillo, a cherished cardiologist and a long-time resident of Aiken, passed away on October 17, 2024. Her passing has left the medical community and her many patients in mourning.

Dr. Tummillo was known not only for her medical expertise but also for her compassionate nature. She joined the Aiken Regional Medical Centers in 2022 after running a successful private practice in Augusta for many years. Throughout her career, she made a profound impact on the lives of countless patients, always greeting them with her vibrant smile and infectious joy.

In addition to her medical work, Dr. Tummillo had a deep love for animals. Her farm, where she lovingly cared for dogs, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, and turkeys, was her sanctuary. She was also known for rescuing animals in need, reflecting the immense kindness she carried for all living beings.

The Aiken Regional Medical Centers shared their sorrow on social media, stating, "She touched so many lives through her work. Dr. Tummillo will be greatly missed."

Colleagues and patients also expressed their grief. Lora Ullery commented, "Dr. Tummillo was an excellent physician whom I admired and trusted without any doubts." Another colleague, Jill Buchanan Enter, remarked, "Such a wonderful mentor and colleague! Rest in peace my sweet friend."
