Harare, Zimbabwe – The medical community and residents of Harare are mourning the tragic loss of Dr. Jackie Stone, a renowned physician and public health advocate, who passed away on October 3, 2024, at the age of 59.
Dr. Stone, a respected medical professional known for her work in treating deadly diseases like Ebola, Marburg, and COVID-19, was found unresponsive in her home in Highlands, Harare.
She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed out of respect for her family.
Throughout her career, Dr. Stone saved countless lives through the use of repurposed treatments, even amidst controversy and professional challenges.
Her relentless pursuit of effective medical solutions during the COVID-19 pandemic earned her admiration but also scrutiny from medical authorities.
She was reportedly taken to court 27 times and ultimately faced the loss of her medical license.
Dr. Stone’s tireless work in Zimbabwe and beyond ensured that families were able to keep their loved ones alive during some of the most challenging public health crises.

Dr. Jackie Stone is survived by her three children, and her funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
