Dr. James E. Winslow Jr., a lifelong resident of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina, passed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 80. Dr. Winslow, affectionately known as "Doc" to those who knew him well, was a respected figure in his community and was remembered fondly by friends and colleagues alike.
A graduate of Roxboro High School, Dr. Winslow went on to attend The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated in 1966. Over the years, he became a well-known presence in his local area, especially through his frequent visits to The Golden Skillet restaurant, where he was a favorite customer.
Tributes to Dr. Winslow have poured in from those who knew him. “I’m so sorry to hear this ‘Doc’ Jimmy Jay was a great guy and one of my favorite customers," wrote David Schreffler III. "Sad to hear this. He was a good man and doctor," added Kenny Rock in a heartfelt comment.
Dr. Winslow’s passing has left a void in the hearts of many, and his legacy will be remembered by his family, friends, and the broader community. His family has requested that people honor his memory with flowers or by planting a memorial tree in his name.
