Funmi Adeyemi, Respected USMC Infantry Officer, Passes Away in Burke, Virginia, Leaving Colleagues and Family in Mourning

Burke, Virginia – Funmi Adeyemi, a former USMC infantry officer and program manager at a government contractor, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service and leadership.

His death was announced on Monday, October 21, 2024, through social media posts.

Adeyemi, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, was known for his commitment to his work and his deep intellectual nature.

He served in various roles, including time with the 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion, where he made a lasting impression on his fellow Marines.

The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed publicly.

James Cuneo, one of his comrades, expressed his grief on Facebook, writing, "Lost a true Brother this week! Funmi F. Adeyemi… this one hurts! Great man, Marine, and Brother!"

Another friend, Johnny Fish, reflected on their shared experiences, noting Funmi’s intellectual depth and kindness: "He wasn’t made in the mold of a typical USMC infantry officer, and I think that was a strength."

Adeyemi was also remembered for his love of retro 80s cartoons, which he shared on social media, bringing smiles to those around him.

His family, friends, and colleagues are mourning the loss of a beloved figure who touched many lives through his service and compassion.

Funeral arrangements for Funmi Adeyemi will be announced by his family at a later date.
