Frankfort, Illinois – Therese Marie Jackson, a beloved 47-year-old teacher from Frankfort, has tragically passed away following a fatal accident involving a semi-trailer in Peotone. The incident occurred on Monday morning, September 23, 2024, near Wilmington-Peotone and Centre roads.
Therese Jackson, who was a behavior analyst within the Frankfort Community Consolidated School District, was driving a Honda when she came to a stop at the intersection of S. Centre Road and Wilmington-Peotone Road. According to reports, as she attempted to make a left turn, her vehicle was struck by a semi traveling westbound on Wilmington-Peotone Road. Despite the efforts of Beecher and Manhattan Fire Protection District firefighters, who extricated her from the vehicle and rushed her to St. Mary’s Hospital, Therese sadly did not survive.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. Road closures remain in effect near the crash site as authorities work to gather more details. The driver of the semi was unharmed.
Therese Jackson’s passing has deeply impacted the Frankfort community. A GoFundMe account has been set up by family and friends to help support her husband, John Jackson, and their two children, LJ and Midori, during this difficult time. The fundraiser aims to assist the family with funeral costs and other expenses.
A candlelight vigil was held on the evening of September 24th at 10926 Pembrook Ct. in Frankfort to honor Dr. Therese M. Jackson’s life. Ryan Crabtree, who organized the event, announced that over 250 candles were distributed, but many attendees brought their own in case of shortages. More than 300 people from the community, including friends, family, and members of the Falcons Football and Cheer teams, gathered to pay their respects.
Several community members have shared their thoughts on Facebook in remembrance of Therese. Anna Westphal posted, "It was beautiful. We love you forever, Therese." Charlene Stuckey added, "Heritage Knolls neighbors and friends pulled it together as one and everyone showed up! The Jacksons are loved and supported!" The outpouring of love and support for Therese Jackson and her family continues to pour in from friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
Therese Jackson’s legacy as a dedicated teacher and community leader will live on through the many lives she touched. Her obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family in the coming days.
