Janice DiPofi, a longtime resident of Lewiston, New York, passed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on February 1, 1940, in Niagara Falls, NY, Janice spent over three decades as a dedicated bookkeeper and office assistant at Mt. Carmel and St. Peter’s churches.
Janice’s passion for painting and drawing was evident throughout her life. She continued to improve her artistic skills well into her eighties, attending painting classes and producing numerous oil paintings that adorn both her home and those of her family members. Her artistic talent brought immense joy not only to her but also to those around her.
Family was the cornerstone of Janice’s life. Described as a caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she took immense pride in her family’s achievements and was a source of strength and love for them. Her husband of 61 years, John J. DiPofi, preceded her in death in 2020.
She leaves behind a large family, including her children Phil, Daniel, Anne Marie, and David, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her deeply.
Visitation for Janice DiPofi will be held on Wednesday, September 25, from 9:30-10AM at St. Bernard’s Church in Youngstown, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM.
Reflecting on Janice’s character, Cindy Gray, a family friend, noted on social media, "Condolences to the DiPofi family," underscoring the community’s loss. Another acquaintance, Maryjean Thompson, shared, "She was such a sweet lady!" highlighting the warmth Janice brought into the lives of those she knew.
