Jeffery ‘Jeff’ Deprosperis, Beloved Teacher and Soccer Champion, Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Brantford, Ontario – Jeffery ‘Jeff’ Deprosperis, a passionate educator and soccer enthusiast, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.

His passing marks the end of a life devoted to family, sports, and community.

Jeff was widely known for his success on the soccer field, particularly as a member of the 2002 Canadian National Soccer Championships winning team for Brock University.

He was not only a skilled athlete but also a dedicated coach and beloved teacher.

For over two decades, Jeff served as the director of the Physical Education Department at St. John’s College, where he fostered school spirit and organized community events like the All-Catholic Girls’ Football Tournament.

In 2022, Jeff was diagnosed with cancer and spent the next two and a half years undergoing treatment, all while sharing his journey with others through his YouTube channel “Blessings on My Journey,” offering hope and encouragement to fellow cancer patients.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Martha, and his two sons, Peter and Dante, with whom he shared his love of soccer by building a backyard pitch every spring.

He will be remembered for his immense contributions to the community and his enduring love for his family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4th at Toll Funeral Home in Brantford, with a Funeral Mass following on Saturday, October 5th at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
