Catawba County, North Carolina – In a tragic road rage incident, 40-year-old Jeffrey Michael Guida was fatally shot on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

The altercation occurred at the intersection of Island Point Road and North View Harbour Drive, where a confrontation with 75-year-old Terrell Eugene Giddens escalated into deadly violence.

Guida, a father of three, was shot multiple times while his children—aged 2, 11, and 13—remained in the car, unharmed but traumatized by witnessing their father’s death.

Eyewitnesses reported that both men had exited their vehicles following a dispute, the cause of which remains under investigation.

Giddens allegedly produced a firearm and fired several close-range shots at Guida, leaving him unconscious at the scene.

Catawba County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the emergency call at approximately 4:53 p.m.

After the shooting, Giddens fled the scene but was arrested shortly afterward at his residence without incident.

He faces charges including one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder for endangering Guida’s children.

Giddens is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 14, 2024.

This tragic incident highlights the growing concerns surrounding road rage in the United States.

The Catawba County community is left grappling with the loss of a father and the emotional toll on his young children.
