Worcester, Massachusetts – A series of shootings led to a massive police presence and the closure of Interstate 190 on October 2, 2024, as Massachusetts State Police Troopers responded to a chaotic scene.
At around 2:13 p.m., an initial gunshot was reported in the vicinity of Heroult Road, according to Worcester Police Department spokesperson Joe Cersosimo.
Shortly after, another incident unfolded when officers were alerted to a male with a firearm on Interstate 190 at approximately 3:40 p.m.
The individual was taken into custody, and no information regarding his condition has been released at this time.
Both sides of the highway were closed, with numerous emergency vehicles and police officers occupying the scene as investigators worked to gather evidence.
Trooper Brandon Doherty confirmed that the scene is now secure, but the investigation is ongoing.
The road closure remains in effect as authorities continue to search for any additional evidence linked to the incidents.
