Holcombe, Kent – The Holcombe Hockey Club is mourning the loss of John Weston, a cherished member, who passed away earlier this week.
John Weston, known for his warmth and involvement with the club’s social scene in the late 1980s and 90s, was an integral part of the community.
Although he never played hockey, his contributions were vital, from helping behind the bar to preparing his famous chili dishes on Bonfire Night.
“John was the star of my quiz team in the Greene King Quiz League,” recalled Robbie Robertson, a fellow member, while paying tribute to his dear friend.
In recent years, John battled Parkinson’s and diabetes, which significantly affected his mobility.
Despite his health challenges, he remained passionate about life, always enjoying visits to the ‘Who’da Thought It’ pub in Rochester.
His funeral is scheduled for October 29, 2024, though it will not take place locally.
Details for those wishing to attend can be obtained by contacting Graham Robertson.
John’s legacy within the club and his unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
