San Diego, California – Jose Angel Ruan Lopez, a 20-year-old motorcyclist, tragically lost his life in a collision earlier this week in Otay Mesa.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2024, on Enrico Fermi Drive, just north of Otay Mesa Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Lopez was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when he collided with a stationary yellow box truck parked along the eastern curb.
The truck had been immobilized for reasons that are still under investigation.
Lopez was thrown off his motorcycle and onto the road, where he suffered fatal injuries.
Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP has since closed the northbound lane of Enrico Fermi Drive to allow for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
