Wheeling, West Virginia – Kollin Charles Campanizzi, a 42-year-old resident of Wheeling, passed away quietly at his home on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born on November 24, 1982, Kollin was a beloved member of his community, known for his passion for softball and his dedication to coaching.
Kollin had an impressive coaching career, serving at St. John High School, West Liberty University, and most recently at Martins Ferry High School. He also played a key role in managing Patterson Field for the Beast of the East tournament and spent four years as a participant with Wheeling Legion. Kollin was an avid New York Mets fan, showcasing his love for the game both on and off the field.
In addition to his sports achievements, Kollin was a dedicated member of Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, where his presence will be deeply missed. He had a lifelong love for animals, especially his cat, Mandu, which further defined his compassionate nature.
Kollin is survived by his loving parents, Kenneth and Kathleen “Kitty” Campanizzi, and his uncle, Charles Corliss, along with many others whose lives he touched through his coaching and community involvement.
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony, officiated by Rev. Erica Harley, at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV. Kollin will be laid to rest at Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV. Memorial donations in Kollin’s honor can be made to the Ohio County Animal Shelter or the Marshall County Animal Shelter, reflecting his deep love for animals.
