Larry Skinner, Revered Coach of Trinity Christian Academy, Passes Away at 77, Leaving a Legacy of Excellence

Jacksonville, Alabama – The Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) community is mourning the loss of Coach Larry Skinner, a legendary figure in local sports, who passed away on October 15, 2024, at the age of 77.

Coach Skinner led TCA to seven Alabama Christian Athletic Association (ACAA) State Championships during his remarkable career, becoming a beloved mentor to countless young men.

Throughout his tenure, Skinner was known not only for his coaching excellence but for instilling values of character, hard work, and perseverance in his players.

In 2016, he was inducted into the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame, further solidifying his status as one of the most respected figures in the community.

His impact extended far beyond the playing field, touching the lives of students, faculty, and families alike.

The community has expressed its grief and shared heartfelt condolences.

Trinity Christian Academy shared in a Facebook post, “Coach Skinner’s legacy will forever be a part of our academy… We are better for having known him.”

Former colleagues and friends also paid tribute, with Pam Morgan Cason commenting, “He was an amazing principal, too!” and Tony Bolton calling him “a true legend.”

A visitation will be held on Wednesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.

The event will serve as a celebration of Coach Skinner’s life and the indelible mark he left on the Jacksonville community.

Coach Skinner is survived by his wife, Gail, and their family.

Prayers and support have been requested for the Skinner family during this difficult time.
