Lubbock, Texas – Leland Taylor, 38, has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash that occurred early on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Lubbock.
According to the Lubbock Police Department (LPD), the crash happened at 2:11 a.m. on South Loop 289.
Taylor was driving in the proper lanes when his vehicle collided with a pickup truck driven by 42-year-old Ricardo Ferreyra, who was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragic accident has left the local community in shock.
In the aftermath of the crash, a passenger in the pickup truck, 29-year-old Kirstin Gallemore, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to University Medical Center by EMS.
Ferreyra, who suffered severe injuries, was taken to Covenant Medical Center for treatment.
The LPD stated that the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
