Mount Vernon, Indiana – Marjorie "Beep" Loyce McGennis, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on October 2, 2024, at the age of 83.
She died at West River Health Campus in Evansville after a life dedicated to her family and community.
Born on January 22, 1941, in Posey County, Indiana, Marjorie was known for her commitment to the Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon, where she worked as a custodian for many years.
She was also a farm wife and an active member of the Extension Homemakers Club, serving on both the Extension Board and the 4-H Council.
Marjorie’s love for her community was reflected in her leadership roles, including her time as a commander for the Victory Bees.
Her passing has left a deep void in the hearts of her loved ones, friends, and the entire neighborhood.
Heather Pettyjohn, a close neighbor, expressed her grief, saying, "My sweet Loyce… what a sucker punch to the heart this is… the neighborhood will miss you and all your smiles."
Grace Smith also shared her memories, stating, "She was one of a kind! Prayers to everyone."
Marjorie is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her legacy forward.
A funeral service will be held on October 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Schneider Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
Visitation will take place the day before from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
Marjorie will be laid to rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
