Manahawkin, New Jersey – Olivia James McConaghy, a 15-year-old girl from Manahawkin, New Jersey, has tragically passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, after a seven-month battle with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), an aggressive and rare form of cancer.
Her passing has left the local community in mourning.
During her treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Olivia developed a special bond with Jaxson Rand, another young patient facing the same diagnosis.
Their friendship became a source of mutual strength throughout their courageous fight.
Olivia’s bravery and resilience in her battle against DIPG earned her the title of a warrior, and she will be remembered for her courage and unyielding spirit.
Her passing has drawn a wave of heartfelt tributes from family, friends, and the wider community.

Visitation services for Olivia will be held at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home in Manahawkin on Wednesday, October 18, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and Thursday, October 17, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
