Peoria, IL – Oren R. Adams, 36, of North Merriman Court, Peoria, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred late Wednesday night. According to the Peoria County Coroner’s Office, Adams suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and died within minutes due to injuries incompatible with life.
The incident took place at approximately 11:55 p.m. on September 18, 2024. Peoria Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating a gunshot in the 200 block of North MacArthur. Upon arrival, officers found Adams lying in the roadway in the 800 block of West John Gwynn Jr. Avenue. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Unit, and Patrol Unit are actively investigating the case. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not yet released any information regarding potential suspects or motives.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the cause of death was the gunshot wound. This tragic incident has left the community in shock, as Adams was known as a devoted father and a respected member of the neighborhood.
