Natchez, Mississippi – Pete Taylor, a 77-year-old resident of Natchez, was found dead in his home on Watts Street late Thursday night. His body was discovered by his young grandson, who immediately called 911 at 10:42 p.m., according to local authorities.
Natchez Police Chief Caroline Green confirmed that Taylor’s granddaughter, 31-year-old Annitta Taylor, has been charged with his murder. Annitta had been taking care of her grandfather, as stated by Natchez Police Department Commander Jerry Ford.
James Lee, the Adams County coroner, called the incident a tragic and preventable loss, expressing his sorrow for the family. “This was an awful tragedy today,” Lee remarked. “These ongoing, what I consider preventable incidents, continue to perplex me. My thoughts and prayers are with this family.”
The Natchez Police Department is leading the investigation, and Taylor’s body has been sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
