Peter A. Sandborg, Beloved School Custodian, Passes Away Unexpectedly at Manz Elementary School

Manz Elementary School, Wisconsin – Peter A. Sandborg, affectionately known as Mr. Pete, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2024.

He was a cherished member of the school community, serving as the afternoon and evening custodian, and was beloved by both staff and students.

In addition to his custodial duties, Mr. Pete was known for his generosity in helping students with their schoolwork and providing them with unique recycling and garbage “internships.”

Mr. Pete, who earned 230 college credits, dedicated over 60 hours this past summer to painting the school, a testament to his commitment and care for the environment he worked in.

He was known for his kindness, patience, and the way he connected with students, often offering the “best high-fives” according to those who knew him.

The loss of Mr. Pete has deeply impacted the Manz Elementary School community.

Joleen Funk shared on Facebook, “Prayers for his family, coworkers, and all Pete’s Manz kids.”

His passing has left a void in the hearts of many who appreciated his hard work, dedication, and warm presence.

Peter A. Sandborg will be missed dearly by students, staff, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
