St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago – Professor Brent Wilson, a highly respected academic and mentor, passed away on September 24, 2024, after a long battle with illness.
Known for his dedication to education and his profound influence on students, Professor Wilson left a lasting legacy at the University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine campus, where he mentored many PhD students.
His death has left the academic community and his loved ones in deep mourning.
Sadie Samsoondar, one of his former PhD students, shared her heartfelt tribute on social media, recalling a farewell party held in 2017 for Professor Wilson after his illness was first diagnosed.
She expressed her sadness, writing, “With a heavy heart I say goodbye to my PhD mentor, Professor Brent Wilson… He will be greatly missed.”
Mallini Armour and Gary Samsoondar also shared their condolences, expressing sympathy to those affected by his passing.
Professor Wilson is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Attong-Wilson, and his family.
His contributions to education and mentorship will be remembered by the many students and colleagues whose lives he touched throughout his career.
