Reid Michael Briggs, 11-Year-Old Tornado Athletics Baseball Player, Tragically Passes Away in Sulphur, Louisiana

Sulphur, Louisiana – Reid Michael Briggs, an 11-year-old student and baseball player, tragically passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, following a side-by-side vehicle accident near Sulphur.

Reid, a fifth-grader at Vincent Settlement Elementary School, was known for his vibrant spirit, sense of humor, and kindness.

His untimely passing has left the community in mourning, particularly his baseball family at Tornado Athletics, where he wore #5 with pride.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Armentor Road when a Polaris RZR carrying two children overturned.

Reid, who was a passenger, was partially ejected from the vehicle and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away despite life-saving efforts.

The driver, a young peer, was unharmed, and authorities do not suspect foul play in the tragic incident.

Tornado Athletics shared their grief on social media, stating, "We are heartbroken to share the passing of one of our own, Reid Michael Briggs, an amazing 11-year-old who brought joy to everyone."

The post reflects the deep sense of loss felt by the community.

Reid is survived by his parents, Jordana and Korey Briggs, as well as his brothers, Brodey and Knox.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
