Portree, Isle of Skye – Ross Cowie, a beloved figure known for his work in the Skye community and his contributions to shinty, tragically passed away on October 6, 2024, at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Cowie, born on February 13, 1960, was the founder of the life-saving charity Lucky2BHere, which has impacted countless lives by improving access to emergency medical equipment and training.
His dedication to healthcare and community service was evident up until his final days, having worked tirelessly to enhance health services on the Isle of Skye.
A prominent sportsman, Cowie led the Skye Camanachd to victory in the 1990 Camanachd Cup and played a key role in their 1988 Sutherland Cup win.
He also managed the team over several years, with his influence spanning decades.
Cowie’s legacy was rooted not only in his sporting accomplishments but also in his resilience after being diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, which led to the creation of Lucky2BHere.
