Whyalla, South Australia – Roy Charles Davenport, fondly known as “The Whistler,” passed away peacefully at his home on October 15, 2024, surrounded by love and comfort.
Roy was a cherished member of the Whyalla Volleyball Association and was widely known for his quick wit and playful spirit, always managing to brighten the lives of those around him with his humor.
He battled dementia, which at times could be cruel, yet his endearing personality continued to shine through, offering moments of joy and connection to his loved ones.
His family remembers Roy for his ability to start each day afresh, never letting the challenges of the previous day weigh him down.
Roy is survived by his family and friends, who are deeply mourning his loss but also celebrating his life and the love he shared with them.
A celebration of Roy’s life will take place at the West Whyalla Football Club, with further details to be announced once arrangements are finalized.
In his memory, his family requests that everyone share a joke with a loved one and spread the joy that Roy so effortlessly brought into the world.
