Samuel Joshua Holyfield Flint, Lincoln High School Student and Athlete, Passes Away Unexpectedly at 17

Shinnston, West Virginia – Samuel Joshua Holyfield Flint, a beloved 17-year-old student at Lincoln High School, tragically passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Samuel, who was born on March 20, 2007, in Clarksburg, WV, was known for his dedication to academics, athletics, and his community.

His sudden passing has left family, friends, and teammates devastated as they mourn the loss of a young man with a bright future.

Samuel was the son of Joshua D. Flint of Shinnston and Rebecca Alexis Holyfield Taylor of Pittsburgh.

He was an active member of Lincoln Athletics, participating in wrestling, football, basketball, track, and cross-country, and was known for his hardworking, team-oriented nature.

In addition to his achievements in sports, Samuel had plans to pursue a career as a physical therapist.

At the time of his passing, he was employed at Chick-Fil-A and was admired by his coworkers for his quick wit and friendliness.

Friends and family took to social media to express their grief and condolences.

Travis Carroll commented, "What a great fella. Always had a smile and good conversation."

Marlene Wilfong added, "Prayer’s for his family and friends. Young soul taken too soon."

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, at Perine Funeral Home, with the funeral service on Tuesday, October 15.

Samuel will be laid to rest at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
