San Luis Obispo, California – Shelby Daniele, a former standout student-athlete from Cal Poly and a 2019 graduate of Buchanan High School, tragically passed away, as confirmed by the Cal Poly Athletics department.
Shelby was known for her exceptional achievements both on and off the track, having earned six All-Big West honors and two Big West championships during her time on the Cal Poly track and field team.
She also recently graduated with a master’s degree in agriculture this past spring.
Her cause of death has not been officially released, but her passing has deeply impacted her family, friends, and the Cal Poly community.
Cal Poly Track and Field shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, noting, “Shelby was truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly by everyone in the Cal Poly community.”
Many who knew Shelby have taken to social media to express their grief and condolences.
Cynthia Page Teeple shared, “Lifting up all of Shelby’s teammates, friends, and family.
My son says she was a true leader on the team.”
