Manitoba, Canada – The tragic search for six-year-old Johnson Redhead has come to a heartbreaking end. After days of searching, Johnson’s body was discovered in a marshy area approximately 3.5 kilometers from the school where he was last seen on Wednesday morning. The young boy had attended a breakfast program at the school in the Shamattawa First Nation, but did not show up for class afterward, prompting a large-scale search by the community, volunteers, and police.
Johnson had been missing since Wednesday, sparking widespread concern and a desperate search effort across the northeastern Manitoba area. His body was found on Sunday evening at around 7:45 p.m., according to a news release from the RCMP.
Community members and those following the search for Johnson expressed their sorrow and condolences on social media.
Mary Jo Welch shared, “Little, 6-year-old Johnson Redhead was found last night about 7:45 pm in a swampy area 3.5 kilometers from the school he was last seen in. Unfortunately, Johnson’s parents, relatives, and the community are left to mourn his death after days and hours of search. God speed little Johnson.”
Catherine Piccone added, “My condolences to his family and friends. I hope it’s figured out how he ended up there, so the family has closure. This should never have happened.”
