Napoleon, Indiana – Tom Day, a dedicated union secretary and talented artist, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Aspen Place in Greensburg, Indiana.
He was 81 years old.
Born on February 22, 1943, in Barwick, Breathitt County, Kentucky, Tom was known for his work as a secretary/treasurer for the AFL-CIO at Seagram’s in Lawrenceburg, a role he held for 35 years.
He was also the owner of Tom’s Reproductions Screen Printing Shop in Versailles and worked as an insurance agent.
A graduate of Cross Plains High School in 1961, Tom had a deep passion for art, particularly guitar playing and sketching, and he earned a diploma from the Washington School of Art.
He was also involved in volunteer carpentry work through his church over the years.
Tom was a member of both the Versailles Church of Christ and the First Christian Church of Inverness and was honored as a Kentucky Colonel for his contributions to the community.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorine Holliday Day, their daughter Deanna Young, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends and family have shared their grief on social media.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles, with burial following at Cliff Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
