Troy Thompson, Devoted Husband and Community Advocate, Passes Away After a Year-Long Battle with Cancer

Hampton, Virginia – Troy Thompson, a beloved husband and dedicated community member, passed away on September 21, 2024, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Surrounded by his loved ones, Troy’s unwavering spirit and commitment to his family and community remained strong until the end.

Troy had been striving to return to his teaching career and continued to work on various personal projects, all while offering steadfast support to his family throughout his illness.

His wife, Daphne Rehuher, shared the news on social media, reflecting on the legacy Troy leaves behind, stating that his stories, trinkets, and contributions will live on in the communities he cherished.

A memorial service will be held at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, Virginia, on October 2, 2024, with a preservice gathering at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:00 a.m., and a burial service at 11:00 a.m.

In place of flowers, the family requests that people register to vote, highlighting Troy’s strong passion for the impact of politics on his community.

Condolences poured in from friends and family, with Susan Salvador expressing, “Oh my dearest sis, my sincere condolences for your loss.

Thinking of you in thoughts and prayers,” while Phila Rehuher honored Troy with the words, “Rest in love, Troy Thompson.
