North Chicago, Illinois – Tywaun Reed, a 21-year-old resident of Waukegan, tragically lost his life in a rollover crash on Tuesday night, October 1, 2024.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Reed died as a result of blunt force trauma sustained in the crash, which occurred near 24th Street and Bobby Thompson Motorway.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the North Chicago Police Department, North Chicago Fire Department, and Lake Bluff Fire Department, arrived on the scene at around 11:40 p.m.
They discovered the vehicle had rolled off the road, leading to Reed’s partial ejection and entrapment beneath the vehicle.
Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
Authorities indicated that the vehicle had likely been involved in an earlier incident involving a police chase, although no active pursuit was taking place at the time of the crash.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
This devastating event has left the Waukegan and North Chicago communities in mourning, as they grapple with the sudden loss of a young life.
